Rockbox is a replacement firmware project for a variety of [[MP3]] players, including most iPod versions. Rockbox allows for a degree of customizability rarely seen in stock MP3 players of any kind. Rockbox uses a small bootloader in the firmware of an MP3 player to load a small custom system for playing music.
