For those who occasionally need to edit the [[mythtv|myth]] database, [[phpmyadmin]] can be a lifesaver and it is trivial to install.
Get a link to the current copy off the "main web site":http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php
Either use your [[web browser|browser]] or copy the link to the myth box and use wget to pull down the distribution to your */home/mythtv* directory. Using the current link from one of the mirrors for the .bz2 version would be,

To unzip use:
<code>% tar xvfj phpMyAdmin-2.8.1.tar.bz2</code>
If you pull down a different zip file, change the j on the tar command accordingly.
To install so it is accessible from a browser use:
<pre>
<code>
$ mv phpMyAdmin-2.8.1 /var/www/html/mythweb/phpmyadmin
$ cd /var/www/html/mythweb/phpmyadmin
$ cp ../.htaccess .
