» complete changeThe *MPL* or _Mozilla Public License_ is a copyleft license that is published by the [[Mozilla]] foundation.
Its use is to license Mozilla applications, such as [[Firefox]]. The license is considered to be a compromise between the [[copyleft]] ideas put forth in the [[License:GPL|GPL]] and the liberal allowances allowed in the [[License:BSD|BSD]] license.
The license serves as a model for other licenses, such as the [[License:CDDL|CDDL]] from [[Sun|Sun Microsystems]] that is used to license [[OpenSolaris]].
The Mozilla foundation is backing off of the MPL to some degree, relicensing [[Firefox]] and other software under the [[License:GPL|GPL]], and [[Firefox]] derivatives like [[Flock]] are following suit.
